Concerned about carpet drying times ? Read on

People are often concerned about drying times during the winter, we can now reasure all of our customers that this need not be a concern any more.

We employ three different methods when we clean carpets, dry cleaning using micro sponges will enable the carpet or rug to be dry almost instantly, micro sponges are an effective and very safe way of cleaning and often used on sea-grass or fine rugs with silk content.

Low moisture cleaning is a very effective way to clean man made low profile carpet. This is often found in commercial premises or rental properties. A thorough vacuum to begin with is important, followed by a liberal application of micro splitting solution, a Charley or cotton bonnet pad is then used in conjunction with a rotary machine, working across the weft and warp, soils and stains are effectively removed, with carpets drying within one hour.

Using an extraction system is the most popular carpet cleaning method, although the ability of machines differ greatly. After pre-vacuuming, carpets will then receive an application of micro splitting solution, this is agitated using a contra rotating brush machine. Suspended soils are then removed with a hot water rinsing system, don’t forget, the drier the carpet, the more soil removal! Drying times can be reduced by using a turbo drier, although when we use our Hydramaster van mounted system with high water lift and moderate psi, the drying time is one hour, even if it is a cold and rainy day.

Our services include anti static treatments, allergy treatments, spot and stain treatments, using safe toxin free solutions. We are operating in South London, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

More flood cases are expected in the UK this winter, localised and flash flooding can cause hundreds of pounds worth of damage, not to mention inconvenience, there is a new trend surfacing relating to how insurers deal with flood damage cases. Traditionally, insurance companies would employ the services of a National company with specialist equipment, designed to remove flood water and dry a property afterwards.

More and more flood victims are simply being sent a cheque to cover losses, at first the payment can seem generous, but will the way that you spend this cheque ensure that your property is dried effectively before repair work can begin? Property owners will often turn to a building company, entrusting them with the overall task. This can be a big mistake, as builders simply do not have the equipment to do a extraction ~ dry out on a building, resorting to basic machine and equipment hire from the local hire shop.

Over the years, we have dealt with many floods, particularly in the Eastbourne area, as many shops and offices in the town centre sit just above the Bourne Spring, the water level regularly rises, causing hundreds of pounds of damage.

We use a Truck Mounted system called a Hydramaster, rapid water removal from carpets and soft furnishings can be easily achieved, followed by turbo drying and de-humidification lastly. On one job last year, we removed 1500 litres of water from a customers property in one visit! Cleaning the carpets and soft furnishings last of all.

If your insurers settle a claim in this way, call us first on 01323 520044 0r 01273 634177.

Ater twenty minutes of gentle agitation and stain treatments (all non toxic) the wine staining has gone. Our natural carpet cleaning process is surprisingly effective.

Simon the Seagull creates a job for us!

We visited a regular client today after an emergency call, our customer lives in Meads in Eastbourne, over the weekend, Eastbourne hosted its Airbourne show, which ended in a call to us.

On Saturday whilst Airbourne was in full flow, my customer was watching television with her living room window open, a jet flew past above her property this caused a frightened young Seagull to fly into her home.

The bird flew frantically around for more than thirty minutes before capture, unfortunately in this time he managed to spread droppings over the sofa, rug and carpets in three rooms. Bird dirt is usually high in alkali, which can have a very negative effect on carpet and upholstery fibres.

After a thorough vacuum and pre-treatment, we used our Envirodry carpet cleaning agitator, this removed a large quantity of stains before we started cleaning. A final ‘rinse’ using our Hydramaster cleaning system restored our customers rug, carpets and upholstery back to their original condition, much to our client’s relief.

Affectionately known as ‘Simon’ the bird flew off with no lasting damage, hopefully Simon will fly off to Hailsham or Heathfield next year!

Carpet cleaning after Brighton Gay pride party !

We were called in to a customers house last week to clean up after a big house party, the celebrations had continued after Brighton Gay Pride at our customers flat. Coffee, wine and beer had been spilt, fortunately our customer had remembered our conversation on a previous meeting, blotting with non colour fast towels, one moist and one dry, which had removed a large amount of the spillages.

We pre-vacuumed and agitated, using a second generation micro splitting solution, this removed the majority of the staining before extracting with a Ninja machine. In recent weeks we have purchased an Envirodry Generation 4 agitation machine, not only does it massage solution into the carpet fibres, it brushes a lot out, even after vacuuming.

Our customers were pleased to see their carpet back to as new condition, the party will be at someone else’s house next year!

Carpet cleaning for health, not just appearance.

We spend much of our time working in Brighton & Hove, the natural approach we have taken relating to carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning seems to be well received by our customers in this area. I spent time in Raphael Road in Hove recently cleaning upholstery and carpets, the home owner asked my why I decided to change to this ECO system, here are some of my answers ~

Benefits to our customers and their families by reducing their exposure to chemicals, why on earth use any other carpet and upholstery cleaning solutions?

After seeing the results achieved using plant based products, the decision was easy, the end result was in my opinion better, with no exposure to chemicals with high acid or alkali content.

I used to suffer with fatigue and head aches after a long day cleaning carpets or upholstery, this ended as soon as our cleaning regime altered, I feel considerably better each day now.

My equipment seems to appreciate the change too, acids and alkali solutions travelling in and out of our cleaning equipment actually reduced the life of pumps and vacuum motors, particularly if large quantities of detergent (foam) managed to reach the vacuum units.

Knowing that my cleaning solutions would not damage soft furnishings, carpets or rugs. Some traditional products can cause irreparable long term damage.

More and more new customers specify ‘non toxic cleaning’ people are digesting information available and are able to make intelligent decisions, demanding the best service for their family.

We clean for health, not just appearance, please contact Spencer Davies on 07802 177435 or 01273 634177 if you require any more information.

This post relates to a customer in Hove, we also cover Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Hastings.

We have been cleaning carpets, rugs and upholstery in Brighton for more than twenty five years, in this time we have learnt a lot about the city, including the following information.

Brighton is the main commercial, residential, educational and conference centre on the South Coast, 46 miles South of London, 50.49 latitude, 00.08 longitude.

Brighton was established before the creation of the Doomsday book, with Londoners flocking into the town in the 1750’s, appreciating the clean air and countryside. Brighton soon grew, with libraries, theatres and hotels being built to meet the visitors demands, some of these visitors included nobility, the rich and famous. In the early 1800’s Brighton’s population doubled, growing further in the 1840’s with the arrival of the railway, bringing further urban and industrial development.

In recent years Brighton’s yearly holidaymakers have diminished slightly due to the arrival of budget airlines, providing access to European destinations and guaranteed sunshine. Brighton does boast an excellent shopping centre, with shops found in major cities. Brighton marina has been a great attraction for the town along with Brighton University, with students arriving from all around the UK.

Brighton also has the largest gay community outside London, with the ‘gay pride’ festival attracting even more visitors to the town. Brighton and Hove Albion football club currently play in league one, with a new stadium being built at Falmer.

In recent polls, Brighton was the City that people were most happy to live in the UK!

Proper carpet cleaning and maintenance is critical for schools.

Carpet cleaning for health, improving indoor air quality is of critical importance for schools and colleges.

Carpet is recognised as the preferred choice of floor covering in the U.S, firstly, because it provides the most comfortable surface to learn on and secondly it’s positive impact on indoor air quality (IAQ)

Correct maintenance of the carpet is essential to ensure continuing effectiveness relating to air quality as well as the cosmetic appearance of the carpet surface. Ineffective or poor maintenance of carpets have seen some schools returning to hard flooring such as vinyl, with the belief that hard floor surfaces actually improve IAQ.

Pasco County School in Florida recently released its results relating to indoor air quality after a comprehensive study. These results have provided a conclusive argument for the use of carpets in schools and colleges, giving us a highly relevant reason to choose carpets, both in the UK and the US.

Pasco County Steering Committee tested five carpet cleaning methods at one of its elementary schools, with each method executed by a manufacturer representative. These methods included the following:

Truck mount wet extraction - Low moisture cleaning - Low moisture encapsulation - Portable extraction - High flow wet extraction.

After a four week testing period, Pasco schools representative determined that the low moisture, dry extraction system was the preferred choice, due to factors such as - limited time and resources required, an excellent positive contribution to indoor air quality, the immediate use of cleaned carpet and eae of training and operation. Ten year old, vinyl backed nylon faced carpet was returned to ‘as new’ appearance, enabling the school to save money on replacement.

Results from a recent eight year study have shown that babies born by Caesarean section a far more likely to develop asthma than children delivered naturally. Over the last thirty years, asthma cases have risen in industrialised countries, bacterial exposure in the vagina during birth is considered to play an important part in priming the human immune sytem, giving a natural defence against future allergies. This study involved 3000 children in Holland, reports and information was collated until they were eight years old. Children born via Caesarean section were eighty percent more likely to have developed asthma.

Caesarian births were 5% in the 1970’s with some countries now up to 30%, in the UK the figure is 22%. Caesarean births are popular with young mothers, with busy work schedules and marital demands C section births will still be popular in the future, although mothers should be made aware of risks for her child, particularly if either parent has a history of asthma.
